Famous Buildings post 3



1. My favorite category of Famous Buildings was the Castles, Palaces and Forts. I liked the arcihtecture and the geometry of the buildings.

2. My favorite building is the Sydney Opera House. I like the expressionist sstyle. Also, I like the geormetry and the exterior part of the Sydney Opera House.

3. A famous building I would have liked to see in the Kremlin located in Moscow, Russia.
I like its unusual style of architecture. It would fall under the Centers of Power.

Living and Leisure- An expensive place or house with luxurious objects and decorations.

Luxor- Location- las vegas nevada Facts- it is shaped as a pyramid. It shoots a beam of light at the peak of the pyramid

Ceaser's Palace- Location- Las vegas nevada Facts- It is the setting where the movie "Hangover" was filmed. It also hosts the World Series of Poker every year

Centers of Power



Center of Power- Building of dominant political or economical use located in a localized region

White House- Located in Washington D.C. Fact- Where the President of the U.S. lives. Construction began in October 1792

Capitol Building- Located in Washington D.C. Facts- It is the centerpiece of the five historic buildings designed by New York architects Walter Wilder and Harry White. Completed and opened in 1922

Castles, Palaces, Forts






Castle-Large and stately mansion
Fort- Fully equiped place with tropps.
Palace- is the official residents of a royal family

Tower of London- Aka white tower. Architect- William the Conquerer

Palace of Alhambra- Was orginally a Fortress. Was the residence of the Muslim Kings of Granada.

Castle of white heron- Also known as the Hemeji Castle. Style- Midevil

Palace of Verasilles- Located in France, also famous as a symbol of system of absolute monarchy.

Windsor Castles- Located in England. A midievil Castle and royal residence in windsor in the English county Berkshire

Definition: abuilding or other location where a group of people or congragation, come to perform acts of religous praise, honor, or devotion.

Parthenon- Architects: Ictinus and Callicrates
Materials- marble

Basilica of Saint Peter- Built over St. Peter's grave.
Location: Vitican City

Saint Basil's Catherdral- Location: Moscow Russia
Originally known as Trinity church

Temple Mount- Located in Jerusalem
At least four religions are known that used the temple Mount: Judism, Islam, Christianity, and Roman Paganism.
