Architectural Styles Project



















I chose the Italianate Style. I put many windows and made the front of the house symetrical. I also made the roof hipped and bay windows.

Italianate Architecture

Characteristics:
- It has low pitched and flat roofs.
- The projecting eaves are supported by corbels.
- The doors and windows are predimented.
- There are angled bay windows.
- The doors are also glazed.
- The balconies with wrough iron railings.

Time Period & History
- This style was popular during the 19th century.
- Based on 16th century Italian Renaissance Architecture.
- This style was developed in England in 1802 by John Nash.
- This style was developed and popularised by Sir Charles Barry during the 1830's

 This style can be seen in mid-west U.S, California, England, Lebanon, and Australia
